What is Junior Travel Volleyball?

Junior club volleyball is a nationwide junior volleyball system comprised of individual clubs organized under one of several parent organizations (USA Volleyball, AAU, JVA, etc) for the primary purpose of teaching, growing and supporting the sport. Generally, club volleyball offers participants the opportunity to continue to compete and develop skills well beyond the relatively short middle school and high school seasons.

Club volleyball programs come in many different shapes and sizes in terms of programming, administration, benefits provided, etc. Eastside Volleyball was started as a small one team club by Steven Godbold in 2012. It has grown due to demand, though growth has been slow and deliberate, taking care to make sure to keep the focus on growing the game and giving the best experience possible to our families.

Our season tournaments season runs Jan-March (see Tournament Schedule for dates by age group). Practices start after signing dates (week of Nov. 18th).

Tryouts

Girls will try out in their age group (see age definitions above).

We promise to conduct our tryouts with the utmost integrity. We offer one athlete per roster spot on our teams and when you receive an offer from Eastside, that offer stands and is available for consideration until the Carolina Region established “Signing Date/Time”. This will allow the student-athlete and their family to have sufficient time and opportunity to weigh all factors in the club decision making process. With that in mind, we do request that families respond to their Eastside offer as soon as they know of their decision to expedite the team selection process for all athletes in the tryout process.

We do not have a policy prohibiting parents watching tryouts, but we do only have a small amount of space around the perimeter of our courts.

Format of Tryouts

Girls will be photographed as they check in so that we can put their photo with their score sheets. This helps coaches to put a face with a sheet and helps them to remember the girls better.

Girls will then have a number sheet to safety pin to their back (like a marathon runner) for tryouts.

Our coaches will then run the girls through a variety of drills and organized play in order to assess their skill set. They will grade girls on atheticism, skills, coachability, and sportsmanship.

Teams

Eastside will choose as many teams as we have resources and quality coaches to support. Teams will be chosen based on best skill fit, what the family is looking for (based on questions asked at registration for tryouts), as well as position based (for older teams). There are no "A" or "B" teams at Eastside, but instead teams are based on best fit.

Cost per 10 girl team this season will be $1050. This price is based on 1 payment due at signing. Other payment options available at a higher overall cost.
